Isn’t it nice to have something new? However, the problem with new things are, well, they are new. ( roll drums )
How can something be fantastic and a problem at the same time? Well, in the case of a new laptop, you buy it new, and you have to configure it and install programs too, the problem is, which ones, configure it how? ( see where I’m going? )
I often get people asking me, whats the best program for this, or what should I do with that? After having to answer the same questions over and over, I have decided to rather start this blog, so all I have to do, is point in it’s direction, and, hey PRESTO! I have more time to myself.
So, let me explain a bit now, rather than in every log, why I choose the programs I do, so I don’t get questions or silly comments that will waste your and my time.
My preference in programs I choose goes as follows ( obviously quality is a big factor, but in many cases different branded programs pretty much do the same thing )
Preference 1 : Is it open source? Why? Because open source mostly means it’s free, it also means there’s a good chance it will be continuously developed, so you’ll have a program that will be familiar as the years go by. Also, you won’t have pesky registration to worry about in most cases.
Preference 2: Is it freeware? Freeware is different to shareware, or trialware, as these are usually massively restricted or they have time restrictions.
Preference 3: Programs you pay for. In many cases, wherever you find a program people want you to buy, there is a program just as good, or better, or in some cases, not as good but close, that’s free, and when you weigh up the price, the not as good but close makes it better. However, I will go for Paid programs, and recommend them, when the product is the best option. Most times I’ll give preference 1 or 2, and a mention of the paid for program, don’t hold me to it.
At first, my mission for this site is to get as much helpful information onto the site, before I go over it, putting better wording, grammer, spelling, etc. But for now, ignore it and read the message. This site isn’t a conventional blog either, my posts will be updated / edited time to time too.
( to be continued, this warming up stuff bores me, but I’ll edit it and and more soon )
And I was just wonedrnig about that too!
Great website! How can I add it to bookmarks?
Aloha man! I completely agree with your opinion. I really respect what you’re providing here.
Fabulous site! Thanks awfully for letting me know it. Keep developing that way.
